EECBA are delighted to be working with VIRI, both organisations share the same goal of assisting and supporting SME business in the Electronic Cigarette Industry become compliant upon implementation of the EU ‘Tobacco Products Directive’
EECBA was founded due to the demand within the industry for an organisation to represent retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers enabling access to key industry information, testing, marketing, insurance and more importantly advice.
EECBA work closey with Damien Bove, Developement Director of Yorkshire Biotec who specialises in Pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing. Yorkshire biotec work with EECBA on safety reporting, toxicology, Pharmacokinetics and safety monitoring.
In addition to working with Yorkshire Biotec, EECBA has appointed a team of Specialist insurers for the ‘Vaping Industry’. EECBA Members can take advantage of additional benefits such as a guaranteed saving of 10% on their renewal premium, discounted business assist product which includes, health and safety and risk management consultancy, directors and offices cover, emergency assistance, commercial legal expenses and legal document library.
EECBA feels by working together the burden of compliance can be shared reducing the amount each company needs to invest in the future.
Unfortunately, it has not been possible to proceed with the ECITA Affiliate membership scheme at this time, owing to the fact that we did not receive sufficient registrations to make the scheme viable. It was made clear to VIRI at the outset that we would need a minimum of 25 Affiliate members, in order to fund the extra resources required to look after them. We did not even get halfway towards this minimum. Furthermore, ECITA’s members have considerable concerns (which we share) about the lack of auditing and the potential for the ECITA logo to be devalued if it were to be used by companies who are not subject to the strict requirements of ECITA’s auditing programme.
This is not the end, however. We are absolutely determined to make it possible to reach more of our smaller colleagues, to offer the support and help you need in order to cope with the increasing burden of compliance – now and in the future. We are currently working on a new proposal for this scheme, with some constructive suggestions from our members on how this could work.
We are very disappointed not to be able to move forward more swiftly with this programme. It has long been a cherished ambition to represent more of the smaller companies in the sector – an ambition we are not prepared to abandon. Please bear with us while we try to resolve this, and we hope to be back in touch by the end of the month with the revised proposal.
Once again, thank you for being one of the few who stepped up to the plate. It is with great sorrow that we have had to suspend this programme for now, but we are determined to formulate something that will work for everyone involved.
Wishing you all the best,
The VIRI organisation was intended to fill the void for those vaping industry businesses that were not able to join ECITA as full members or sought to become part of an alternative membership based group.
Soon after VIRI announced its intentions publicly a useful dialogue between ECITA and VIRI commenced. Initially we looked at positive ways that the two separate organisations could successfully work together; however it soon became apparent that uniting completely would best serve the interests of all concerned and those interested in the betterment of vaping challenges that lay ahead of us.
After necessary meetings and negotiations, VIRI are delighted to announce that ECITA have bought forward the launch of their Affiliate Membership Scheme. This is excellent news and we strongly urge those interested parties to sign up and unite as part of ECITA as soon as possible in order to understand the current issues and work towards positive outcomes over the coming months/years.
Full details of the affiliate membership can be found on the ECITA website (www.ecita.org.uk/join-ecita).
Hi, all, it’s Katherine. I just wanted to add a personal note to say how delighted we are to be able to offer ECITA Affiliate Membership at last. We have been trying for years to find a way to make this possible, and the timing is perfect, since our initial discussions with VIRI coincided with considerable progress already made at our end to make this possible.
We hope we shall have the opportunity to meet you all in due course, and continue the campaigning we have all been engaged in for so long. United we stand, and all that!
